Google’s Circle and Search only wants Assistant

It’s been a few weeks since Google presented Cerchia and Cerca, the new advanced tool for searching on the web which represents the future of interaction with Google search tools.

Currently Circle and Search and from Google is only available for Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24, with the promise that we will also see it on other models in the future. But now we discover that Circle and Search it only gets along with Google Assistant.

In fact, some users have tried to modify the default search assistant on their phone, and they noticed that Circle and Search doesn’t work as your default assistant it’s not Google’s.

Initially, it also seemed that Circle and Search wouldn’t work properly if Google wasn’t set up as default search engine. This was deniedand fortunately, since it would have been a significant limitation for those who intend to use alternative search engines.

The screenshot which you find below shows the warning which explains that Circle and Search requires Google as your default digital assistant, otherwise it won’t work.

This option is probably necessary because Circle and Search exploits some software features of Assistant to perform web searches based on the content circled on the screen.
