Google Maps on Android Auto takes inspiration from Apple Maps (but is it a good thing?)

Due to numerous bugs, not all users will be satisfied with the experience on Android Auto, but in fact it remains the interface for most popular vehicles in the world, and Google is continuing to add new features.

The last one is related to Google Mapson which a new view called Immersive Viewor immersive, which takes inspiration from the three-dimensional view of Maps from Apple (do you know how to share your location on Google Maps?).

The novelty therefore allows you to see the size and three-dimensional shapes of the buildings during the route, but not only. The new Immersive View in fact, it also allows you to preview the itinerary with images satellite, photo at level road, traffic conditions and forecasts meteorological, in order to become acquainted with every turn before starting navigation, and therefore being able to orient yourself even when driving in unfamiliar areas.

Returning to the navigation interface, as you can see from the image below the 3D buildings present a transparent designtherefore they do not obstruct the view.

However, the solution does not seem particularly intuitive because in areas with many tall buildings you will practically see a cluster of semi-transparent blocks difficult to distinguish or recognize, especially while driving.

The new view is currently in testing phaseand how Google does with all the novelty is being distributed to a number limited number of users on Android Auto.

It’s impossible to say who it is will receive, and the diffusion will probably be expanded in the next few weeks as Google receives more feedback. From the looks of it, it looks like the new view is coming via Server-side update and not the Google Maps app, so if you want to try it you cannot install the latest beta but you have to wait to be chosen by GrandeG.
