Hyundai ready to launch a new and economical electric mini-SUV

Hyundai is preparing a entry-level electric mini-SUV known as Casperwhich should cost approx 20,000 euros and which will go into production in July: the aim is to challenge the competition represented by Dacia Spring And Citroën ë-C3. Among other things, in Francethe Casper could benefit from electric car incentives, pushing the price well below 18,000 euros.

Furthermore, Automotive news Europe reported that the Casper EV will be produced in the factory of Gwangju in South Korea, where it will be produced together with the ICE variant (which will not arrive in Europe). Moving on to performance, the car should guarantee 200/300 km of autonomy thanks to the lithium iron phosphate battery. As for dimensions, the ICE version is only 3.60 meters long, while the EV one should be longer, around 200-250 mm longer than the Korean version.

The new Casper will eventually join several other small electric vehicles, including Renault’s Twingo and Citroën’s ë-C3not to mention new models coming from SAIC’s BYD and MG Motors.

We will see, therefore, whether Hyundai’s move to produce an electric mini SUV will prove correct or not.
