Android has been allowing it for some time, but how to save the pair of apps favorite, so you don’t have to open them every time? On a Samsung phone there is the App Pair function, but a native solution has not yet been implemented. At least until Android 14.

In the latest beta of Android 14 QPR2 in fact, the boys of Android Police they managed to activate the rescue of one pair of apps that can be viewed paired with the simple touch of a button connection.

The feature, also called on Android App Pairis actually not new, as it gives Android 12 the system remembers the app pairs set by users.

Only it didn’t allow them to be saved. Then in the second beta In Android 14, released earlier this year, a button appeared (activated by code) that allowed you to save pairs of apps, but it still didn’t work.

Now with the latest QPR2 Beta 2 of Android 14, the feature App Pair It finally seems to work. After manually activating the flags which controls the function, the known Mishaal Rahman enabled it and shared the screenshots.

What you need to do is start one pair of apps in mode split screen, then enter the recent apps overview. At this point you need to long press one of the icons of one of the two apps, and the button that allows you to save them will appear, Save app pair (image below left).

This allows you to add a connection to the home screen (image below right) showing the saved pair, and also if the text of the icon is cut you can understand very well which two apps you will launch by touch.

There are some limitations, though, the most noticeable of which is that the pair of apps can’t be added to one folderwhile in the code Rahman managed to discover that Google is working on the ability to pair two apps in split screen mode while the phone is on vertical (something that manufacturers like Samsung have been allowing you to do for years).

It is possible that GrandeG will implement these functions before the release, which could happen with the stable version of Android 14 QPR2 in March 2024 or even in Android 15. Below you can see a video of the function, published by Rahman himself.
