This trick could fix one of the oldest Android Auto bugs

Launched in January this year but only reaching users over the course of several months, Coolwalk It’s one of the biggest innovations ever to arrive on Android Auto, but together with the new one interface he brought with him several bugs.

One of these, rather bothersome, has been plaguing users since the first days of the update, and if Google never released a fix, someone took steps to find one solution independently (do you know how to enable developer options in Android Auto?).

But what are we talking about? The problem, reports of which first appeared at February of this year (shortly after the arrival of Coolwalk, in fact), manifests itself as a block, that is, a real one “freezing” of the lower part of the screen.

This implies the impossibility for users to change appsbecause it is right at the bottom that the taskbarwhere we find all the commands of the Google vehicle interface.

As the update to Coolwalk, the reports are there multiply, and we came to the conclusion that the bugs originated from Google Maps running on Android Auto (although as we will see this is not true). The function is present in Galaxy updated to Android 14 (in the screenshot below you can see it on a Galaxy S23), and you can find it in settings of the phone (after tapping the icon shaped like gear on the home screen, in the app drawer or in the notification curtain pulled down twice), under the entry Visual improvements.

In reality the concept is that on the phone you have to leave the animations. Many users deactivate them to have a smoother phone and for this reason they then have problems with Android Auto. On any device, you must therefore leave animations at at least 0.5x if you have disabled them in Developer Options (if you haven’t done it you don’t have to worry, because, unless you have settings like those of the Galaxy, they will be 1x).

For the majority of users this solution is effective, and in case you have the Android Auto bug in question it can definitely be worth it try.
