We’ve always been big fans of modular laptops Frameworks (have you seen our review of the Framework Laptop 13?), but with the laptop 16 the company has truly outdone itself.

The video begins by dismantling the various modular components, which allow you to change the keyboard, add the numeric keypad and connection modules, six on each side. But to get to the battery and motherboard? Nothing could be simpler, you disconnect the interconnection cable indicated by a file handle and they unscrew 17 T5 screws unmissable.

These are in theory from unscrew And screw again according to a precise scheme, but iFixit tried to do it without following the instructions and there were no problems.

The cover lifts without problems and underneath you find a flat and very tidy architecture.

The SSD it is very simple to change, as it is held in place only by a screw (not captive, therefore colored gold), and the RAM is even simpler.

There 85W battery it is obviously removable, and held in place by three screws and no adhesive. When you replace the battery and it reconnects, they will light up two red LEDs indicating that the system is receiving energy

The wireless card is too replaceable, and held in place by a screw. And the GPU (AMD Radeon RX 7700)? Very simple. Unscrew two screws to disconnect the connector, two more screws (all captive), turn the computer over and slide it out of the computer.

The module can be dismantled in all its parts, including the radiator, and it is possible in theory change the GPU simply by changing the chip

At this point iFixit go to the motherboard. Before disconnects the port expanders modules, then turn the laptop and disconnect and remove the button for recognition biometric and the support structure, then the speakers.

Now you can unscrew it motherboardheld in place by non-captive (but not gold-colored) screws, the webcam connectors are disconnected and the motherboard is free.

It is the turn of the heat sink, which allows the chip to be shown, covered by liquid metalwhile the screen is barely held in place four screwswithout adhesive, therefore easily replaceable.

Framework 16 is not only modular and easily removable, but almost all parts are equipped with QR code which refers to a guide on the manufacturer’s website that explains how to disassemble them. Result? This incredible computer deserves a nice 10 on the platform repairability scale!
