A few months ago Google unveiled the new Android brand identity, with a new font and a new 3D mascot, and at CES 2024 it also announced the name of this new mascot. Drumroll?
“The Bot“. A robot called, literally, The Bot. Not that we expected any original name, but here the effort of imagination was not very great. Maybe they didn’t use Google Bard!
The unofficial name of the Android mascot has always been bugdroid, which in fact did not shine with imagination itself (but personally I still prefer it to the official one – Ed.). In any case, now you know. It’s a shame that this new logo hasn’t yet appeared in the boot screen of the operating system, where the old 2D image still stands out. The Bot, it seems, is a bit slow.
