Nova Launcher always on point: Gemini support arrives

All fans of customization on Android will know Nova Launcher. The launcher that has earned popularity and loyalty from Android users over time has just received a new update which intertwines the paths of the launcher and Google Gemini.

Gemini is Google’s new AI chatbot, the one that will replace to all effects Google Bard. And the Nova Launcher update already introduces support for Gemini. Let’s make it clear right away that this is a change essentially aesthetic.

With the version 8.0.14 Nova Launcher beta comes with the possibility of change the icon of Google Assistant with that of Gemini. To do this you will need to access the launcher settings and open the section Desktop search bar. At this point it will be possible customize the icon dedicated to the assistant.

Clearly, by customizing only the icon it will not be possible to start Google Gemini on your smartphone, since it will be necessary to modify the assistant default from Android settings. In any case, it’s nice to see the Nova Launcher developers so attentive to what happens in the Android world.

But in addition to this new feature, the update for Nova Launcher includes also further additions. Let’s see them together:

  • Support for language customization arrives for each app (at least Android 13 is required).
  • Support for IP addresses in search.
  • MicroResults can be copied to the clipboard via single tap.
  • Fixed search bar placement in drawer.
  • Fixed media card interfering with dock.
  • Minor bug fixes and stability improvements.
  • Updated translations.

The update we just described is currently during automatic distribution to all those who have joined the beta version of Nova Launcher. You can join this address, and then wait for the update through the Play Store.
