New features coming to the Wikipedia app for Android devices. In particular, the version 2.7.50475-r-2024-03-06already widely distributed through the Play Store, includes an interesting update relating to widget design “Wikipedia search”.
The widget now features the logo on the left and a pill-shaped search field on the right. It features a 2×1 configuration that extends up to 5×1. By the way, it will be possible to reduce it down to 1×1, however this configuration still has some visual errors. In any case, pressing on it starts the search with the keyboard. Featured Wikipedia page presentwhich displays the item title, a brief description, and an accompanying image.
Also, now Wikipedia widgets they support both light and dark themes (previously only the clear one was available). The Wikipedia app, among other things, had already been updated previously with the introduction of a design-inspired bottom bar Material Youmarked by pill-shaped tab indicators.
Finally, a themed icon is also available, just as the link previews have rounded edges.
