TIDAL revolutionizes subscriptions: new plan coming and drastic price cut

Despite the competition rivaled by giants like apple Music and Spotify, TIDAL however, it managed to carve out its own space in the market music streaming (here are the best apps for listening to free music). The company is best known for offering a subscription with the most audio fidelity possible (from €19.99 per month) but it does not seem to have achieved completely positive results. For this reason, as reported on the support page, TIDAL has decided to change completely broken.

From April 10, 2024subscribers will have access to all streaming features (including all audio formats premium) by subscribing to a single subscription levelwhich will be renamed simply ”TIDAL Individual” (currently listed price is $10.99 for the US). Already subscribed users will switch automatically to the new plan from April.

The union of the HiFi and HiFi Plus plans, simplifies considerably the subscription offer and will allow you to have the advantages of the Plus level (such as HiRes FLAC, Dolby Atmos and over 110 million tracks in lossless quality) at an almost monthly cost halved.

These kinds of decisions turn out to be a more unique than rare case in the streaming market in general.

Of ”against”, it should be noted that ”to access TIDAL’s catalog of DJ hardware and software, an additional option will be required at an additional monthly cost ($9).” It is about theDJ extensionavailable on Individual plans, which gives you access to over 110 million songs in lossless quality through TIDAL DJ partners.

Regarding users who have subscribed to a ”Family” planthey will move to a new $16.99 subscription level called, precisely, TIDAL Family. The students who currently benefit from the discounted plan of TIDAL will continue to enjoy a reduced rate equal to $4.99 per month. Finally, from April 10th, users of the free level they will have to sign up for a paid TIDAL subscription to continue using the service.

In your opinion, what impact will this choice by TIDAL have on the market? At ”parity” in price, will high streaming quality be such a determining factor in choosing your music streaming service?
