Today we discover one of the many hidden features of the One UIthe proprietary interface that you find on Samsung phones: the possibility of adjust the volume of the audio depending of the application (if you want to learn more about One UI, take a look at our dedicated study).

Why might you want to do something like this? Simple, maybe you are listening music on one speaker external, but at the same time you want to continue watching your favorite videos onTikTok. In this case it would be convenient to separate the two audio channels and lower the volume of the social network, right? Here, your trusty Galaxy allows you exactly this thanks to the function Separate audio application of One UI.

To activate it, go to Settings of the phone by lowering the notifications curtain (fully, so you see the Quick Settings buttons fully expanded) and tapping the a icon gear shape top right.

Next, tap Sounds and vibration and on this screen scroll to the bottom to get to the item Separate audio application.

Touch it and on the proposed page you will see a brief introduction on the function, which explains that by activating it you can “play multimedia audio from selected applications on a separate audio device“.

Tap the switch next to Activate now and a window will open from the bottom inviting you to select an application and an audio device. Touch Select and on the next screen you can select the applications to play on an audio device other than the main one.

In this case, we select Spotify because we want to listen to music on the external speaker, while from the phone we will listen to TikTok videos.

Now you will have to select the audio device to use for the selected applications, then the speaker external in our case, and starting the applications selected (Spotify for us) you can adjust the audio by acting on the volume rocker, but only for that device. The volume control is separate, in fact, as can be seen in the image below by its presence of the Spotify icon in the volume slider.

If you now launch another app (not among those selected in Separate audio), such as TikTok, the music it won’t stop because the audio will come out of the phone, and you can regular separately the volume. As you can see, in fact, the cursor volume shows the generic phone audio icon.

Convenient, right? Below you can see ours full video on TikTok where we explain how to activate the function, but continue to follow us to discover others tricks like this.
