A feature has arrived on Instagram that has already been available on TikTok for some time: it is the possibility of sSave reels created by public accounts to your camera roll. The option is active in United States, will be extended globally: therefore, a simple click will be enough to download the video which, we specify, will be characterized by a watermark to indicate the origin of the clip (the name of the account that created the reel and the Instagram logo will appear). For minor users who have a public account, however, the default download setting will be disabled. Furthermore, it will not be possible to download reels published on private accounts.
How to download reels
To download the reels it will be enough click on Sharing and then select the download option: this way, the video will be saved on your device. The reel, in fact, will be downloaded like any other movie in the smartphone gallery.
Finally, if you download a video that uses a licensed audio clip, only the video will be downloaded. Obviously it will be possible to deactivate the option that allows you to download your reels. In this case, you need:
- Press on Settings;
- Access the Privacy section;
- Press on Reel and Remix and uncheck the “allow people to download your reels” option.
The release of this feature was made official directly by Adam Mosseri via a post: “You can now save Reels from public accounts to your Camera Roll. Each downloaded Reel comes with a watermark showing the creator’s Instagram handle. Originally launched in the US earlier this year, this feature is now accessible in Worldwide”.
