The advent of smartphones has allowed any user to carry out a vast possibility of tasks and actions using a single device. This was also largely favored by the large amount of applications released over the years, which have had a significant impact on both daily productivity and free time. As a result, it is now almost inevitable that we meet again overwhelmed by apps given that, for example, even to organize a trip you may have to consult more than one between accommodation and travel.

Precisely for this reason, at the Mobile World Congress 2024, Deutsche Telekom will present his idea of AI smartphones with the collaboration of Qualcomm and Brain.ai. This is an assistant based on artificial intelligence which, according to the company’s intentions, will go to replace countless apps present on the smartphone.

All this is made possible throughgenerative interface by Deutsche Telekom, based on Brain.ai.

Thanks to artificial intelligence it will be possible to carry out all daily activities directly from the interface (generated contextually), thus replacing the functions of a significant number of apps. To interact with the assistant you can choose whether to use i text commands or voice.

Jon Abrahamson, Chief Product & Digital Officer at Deutsche Telekom, says:

“Artificial intelligence and Large Language Models (LLM) will soon be an integral part of mobile devices. We will use them to improve and simplify the lives of our customers. Our vision is that of a magenta concierge for a smartphone without apps. A real your daily companion that meets your needs and simplifies your digital life.”

At the Mobile World Congress, the presentation will show use cases real on Telekom’s T Phone, an entry-level smartphone already available. This is made possible thanks to the choice to maintain theartificial intelligence in the cloud.

But that’s not all. Deutsche Telekom, in fact, will also present a new smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In this way, thanks to the top of the range processor, AI processing will happen directly on the device. This translates to gods obvious advantages from an energy and speed point of view.

Have we really reached a possible turning point in the concept of smartphones? Some companies actually seem to really believe in it (Rabbit R1 first and then Deutsche Telekom) but for now we can’t do anything but observe the natural evolution of things.
