Google confirms Pixel 8a and anticipates that it will have new features on the battery

A bit of a surprise, the update Android 14 QPR2 included the removal of the battery information page on Pixel devices. This section indicated to users the manufacturing date of the battery and the charging cycle count: therefore, it provided official information on the status of the battery. However, the main news is not this “step backwards” but rather that Google, in commenting on this story, confirmed the launch of Pixel 8a.

Proceeding in order, during the discussion on a site dedicated to bug tracking, Google revealed that the battery statistics feature it will be enabled exclusively on Pixel 8a and later models. This decision confirms the imminent launch of the smartphone and the company’s presumed desire to equip future devices with exclusive options.

Among other things, it is conceivable that Google is also working on improving battery statistics, perhaps adding more and more punctual information. All this, however, will be evaluated when the new Pixel 8a officially debuts.

In this regard, the presentation could take place during the Google I/O scheduled at May. There is some curiosity around this device, even if recent rumors they hypothesized an increase in the selling price compared to the previous model. In this case, the 128 GB Pixel 8a could cost 569.90 euros while the 256 GB variant costs 630 euros.
