Meta will delete Oculus accounts: here’s when and how not to lose your data

Important news coming for owners of a headset Oculus or Meta for virtual reality. In particular, the farewell to Oculus accounts has been made official: in fact, from March 29th they will be replaced by the Meta account. This change, among other things, will result in the loss of the user’s purchase history, which however can be transferred to the Meta account.

Getting to the heart of the news, already since 2020 Oculus accounts headed into retirement. In that period, in fact, Meta decided to request login via the Facebook account. This decision was also contested to the point that in 2002 generic Meta accounts were made available, which allowed users to access virtual reality without the need to sign up to the social network.

In any case, users who use an Oculus account will receive an email containing all the necessary instructions to perform the migration. This operation will allow you to recover the purchase history, friends, any credit and goals achieved. Finally, it would appear that some users who had already converted their Oculus account to Meta also received the email.

In this regard, it is not known whether Meta sent the email by mistake or whether these users will also have to take some action.
