The moment when Android devices no longer have to envy the satellite messaging it is getting closer and closer to the new iPhones. Some strings also emerge in the Google Messages app that confirm the imminence of this functionality.
Satellite messaging can play a fundamental role Mostly in emergency situations, when ground network infrastructures are not functioning for various reasons. In this case, satellite connectivity, which is based precisely on connection to the network via satellites orbiting the Earth, could make the difference.
We saw this technology at the debut of the iPhone 14, and obviously on the iPhone 15. Its Android counterpart pops up in the Messages app. In fact, in one of the most recent versions of this app we find some significant data references to how satellite messaging will work on Android.
The strings that have been discovered indicate that it will be possible start or stop satellite messaging emergency in case of need.
It will therefore be possible to keep the satellite communication channel open if the emergency continues, or to close it if resolved.
Android Authority also found some other strings that indicate the start of an emergency situation, with which satellite messaging will presumably also be activated, and of an option for show a demo of how this service works.
Rumors that surfaced earlier indicated that satellite messaging for emergencies is expected to arrive come to fruition with Android 15, and this is confirmed by what has just emerged. It will be interesting to understand if indeed all Android devices are relatively up to date democratically they will support this functionality.
