This is the new protection against financial fraud from Google Play Protect and this is how it works

To this end, Google is developing a fraud protection project that will be tested first in Singapore, and that could be moved to future countries if it works well.

Google points out that cases of fraud have increased exponentially, however, they point out that around 78% of respondents had experienced at least one scam in the last year, while 45% of respondents highlighted that scams had increased in the last 12 months.

So Google is partnering with the Singapore Cyber ​​Security Agency to create this fraud protection pilot project for Android users.

This project will detect any execute permissions that an application requestsand it will do so in real time when a user downloads it.

Specifically, this technology looks for requests such as RECEIVE_SMS, READ_SMS, BIND_Notifications and Accessibility.

The latter are common tactics used by cybercriminals for financial fraud every time a person downloads an application on the Internet.

With this project, they want to block the installation of any app every time any of these permission requests are detected.

On the other hand, Google Play Protect will also send a notification to the user informing them about the application.

Google suggests that developers ensure that the permissions their apps request are in line with mobile unwanted software principles.

And they clarify that these applications should only request the essential permissions necessary to function.
