According to the latest rumors, it would seem that a potential new artificial intelligence model is about to be launched OpenAI, the company that signed the well-known ChatGPT. Most notably, perhaps unintentionally, the company would unveil GPT-4.5 Turbo, the most relevant update for the company’s LLM in 2024.
Getting to the heart of the news, an article appeared on the OpenAI website – later removed – who was talking about GPT-4.5 Turbo and of its presumed availability in June 2024. Therefore, if things were really like this, we could expect an official announcement shortly. The same post then confirmed that the launch of GPT-5 is far away. This new version, in fact, should not arrive before 2025, therefore one year after the GPT-4.5 Turbo.
As for the difference between this latest model and the previous one, the most important would be the breadth of contextual information that AI would be capable of providing to users, which would be doubled from 128K tokens to 256K tokens. This step forward would have been “suggested” by the need to compete better with the competition, starting from Google Gemini.
In any case, not much more is known so far, although a certain timing is to be noted given that today’s date – March 14 – represents the anniversary of the launch of GPT-4.
