Windows 12 Mobile is dreamy, yet there’s a big but
Windows it is the Microsoft operating system that we have known for many years on PCs and which we remember with joy and pain on smartphones. The latter has remained in the hearts of many, which is why someone wanted to recreate it in a modern look and in step with the times: Windows 12 Mobile.
It is essentially an operating system for smartphones that takes the graphic elements of Windows 11, but adapts them to the size of a smartphone, and the The result is truly exceptional: whoever created it published a video on YouTube where he shows home screens, unlock screens, settings and the like.
There’s a only problem: this operating system does not exist. Although it is very detailed with the presence of Microsoft applications, widgets and a dark mode, it is simply a concept made by a person who is extremely good at creating interfaces, which really seem to have been developed by a UI team.
Looking at it carefully, this Windows 12 Mobile looks like a hybrid form between Windows and Androidwhich certainly makes it more attractive than the old Windows Phone Tiles.
This can be seen from the unlock screenwhich looks like an Android smartphone unlock screen with quick shortcuts for the camera and phone calls, or come on widgetswhich have been taken over from Windows 11 but which are perfectly suited to viewing from a smartphone, or even from the dock at the bottom, which recalls the Windows style.
Likewise the similarities with Windows there is no shortage, because it is possible to see how “File Explorer” has been integrated, which adapts well to the context by becoming a file manager with the connection to OneDrive, or the settings, which preserve the PC style and bring it back to the mobile, or the possibility of having separate desktops.
In short, the idea is interesting, also because Microsoft now has many Android apps in its portfolio, which bring its entire ecosystem to mobile, from Edge to the SwiftKey keyboard via the launcher.
Certainly, this video will not bring back Windows Phonesbut on the one hand it shows us how Microsoft could try the smartphone route again with the help of Android, while on the other hand it shows us what Windows Phones could have become.
