Android Auto is updated with new features for apps prohibited from driving
Android Auto receives a new update software, with Google confirming the thorough support provided to its infotainment platform. The update introduces a very important innovation for apps that are not allowed while driving.
The update for the platform that allows you to connect your Android smartphone to the car has received a new graphic design that will allow you to quickly understand which apps are not usablefor road safety reasons obviously, while you are driving, i.e. while the car is moving.
The image you find below shows exactly what we are talking about. The drawer of apps on Android Auto now shows the icons of installed apps with a possible badges represented by an icon with the letter “P”.
This badge does not appear for all installed app icons, but only for those that can be used exclusively when the car is parked. In the example in the gallery you can see how GameSnacksa popular app that allows you to access various games, is accessible only when the car is stationary.
This is obviously a built-in security feature of Android Auto, with which the system prevents that users drive while using apps that they could distract them while they do it. App blocking while driving it was already available previously: the novelty that has been introduced consists precisely in the badge that we have just seen.
With the new badge introduced on Android Auto, users will be able to know which apps cannot be used while simply driving by accessing the list of installed apps, whereas previously you had to try to launch the app to receive the blocked message while driving.
The novelty that we have just seen would be available with the version 11.4 of Android Auto. Please let us know if you have already received it.
