The Google Telephone app wants to go hand in hand with WhatsApp and Google Meet: here’s how
New features coming to the app Google Phone. In particular, as noted by a user on Xthe standard dialer on Pixels and other Android devices is starting to include calls made via Whatsapp. However, it must be specified that the user in question, on his Pixel 6ahas both Google Telephone (version 124.0.608164421) and WhatsApp (version 2.24.6.6) in beta version: therefore, this change is not yet available to everyone.
Additionally, other users have noticed that always Google Phone, during a call, now includes a shortcut known as “Video Call”. By pressing this button, the phone conversation is transferred to Google Meet. This is a change that further simplifies the transition from a traditional call to a video call. This innovation, however, is also in a limited rollout phase.
Android, therefore, comes closer to iOSwhich has long included calls made/received with WhatsApp in the Recent tab of its Phone app.
On Android, however, while waiting for the final release of the update, you still need to open the well-known messaging app and press the “Calls” tab.
