After switching from Spotify to Apple Music, the first great trauma was realizing that the rest of the world hadn’t made the same choice as me. All my friends continued to use Spotify, which is no surprise: with over 600 million active users, Spotify is the most used music streaming app in the world.

If like me you have switched from Spotify to Apple Music, then, I am sure that the typical scenario will have happened to you too: you are chatting with a friend, he wants to share a song and sends you (obviously) a Spotify link. Or, vice versa, you might want to be the one who wants to share a song, and receive (legitimate) insults if you send a link to a song on Apple Music.

Unfortunately, I fear that in this minority situation it is necessary to take action and, alas, adapt to the idea that most of the people around us use Spotify. For this, I found one particularly useful Shortcuts (i.e. a Quick commandof those that can be added to the app of the same name) which converts Spotify links to Apple Music links, and vice versa.

For this Quick Command to work you need to have both apps installed: that said, to convert the URL of a song (and switch from Apple Music to Spotify, or vice versa) just copy the link and then click on the Shortcut: this will take care of “convert” the link and open it in the correct app.

To use this little software you must have installed the Apple Shortcuts app (if you don’t have it, it can be found free from the App Store): you can download the Spotify/Apple Music converter from this address.
