A new version of Fuchsia arrives on Nest Hub: here’s what’s new

Google just released a new update for Fuchsia, the operating system that we now find on the company’s smart displays. This is therefore an update that affects devices Nest Hub.

The update introduces the version 16 by Google Fuchsia. We remind you that Fuchsia is an operating system recently developed and fine-tuned by Google. Initially it seemed like an operating system intended for a larger number of devices, but then Google introduced it for its own smart displays.

Currently we find Fuchsia mainly on the Nest Hub series of Google, where it replaced the previous one Cast OS. With the update to version 16 a series of new features are introduced, mostly bugfixes. Let’s go and see them together:

  • Fixed audio connection problems with speakers.
  • Fixed problems displaying multimedia information when connected with some smartphone models.
  • Fixed an issue where some headphones would not appear on Bluetooth devices when scanning.
  • Fixed a volume control issue when using a device as a speaker.
  • Fixed an issue where audio was not sent to headphones when connecting headphones during a Duo call.

But it’s not just about bugfixes.

Version 16 of Fuchsia also includes some new features:

  • Added support for the air quality sensor.
  • Added support for updates Matter group.
  • Added transition time handling for color related commands.
  • Release of TREL functionwhich aims to reduce the partition associated with Thread and improve its network use.

The update we just described for Google Fuchsia is during automatic distribution at level global. It should reach all compatible devices within a few weeks.
