The touchscreen of Pixel 9 and 9 Pro will be smarter: here is Adaptive Touch

In recent months there have been rumors about new Google smartphones Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro certainly there was no shortage of them. In fact, several details are already known, including the presence of the new one Tensor G4 processor. In the last few hours, another preview has been leaked, this time regarding the software. Colleagues of Android Authority, analyzing the code of Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1, they found a particular functionality dedicated to touch.

It’s about “Adaptive Touch” (adaptive touch) which is described like this: “The sensitivity of the touch screen will automatically adjust to your environment, your activities and the presence of a screen protector”. Therefore, the smartphone will proceed to automatically adjust the screen sensitivity if it detects, for example, water on the display or the presence of a screen protector. The new feature will be introduced with Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.

In fact, in the recent Android 14 QPRB3 Beta 2, this functionality is mentioned as a feature of “P24”, i.e. of Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.

However, it is not excluded that Adaptive Touch could also debut on older smartphones. After all, Google is known for releasing important updates that introduce new features even on previous generations of Pixels.
