Not only that, but the president of VLC would finally reveal its plans regarding the launch of the hugely popular media player on the platform visionOS: let’s find out all the details.

Vision Pro coming to other countries soon? visionOS suggests it

They are becoming more and more insistent rumor regarding a possible arrival of Vision Pro outside the United States. Apple had talked about it at the launch and just a couple of weeks ago Ming-Chi Kuo declared how he expects it to be marketed in other countries, at least English-speaking ones.

Not only but also visionOS had provided some insights into it, and the location had been discovered in several others nations, among which Italy. Now MacRumors further analyzed the operating system of the Apple viewer, finding out that Apple is working on support for more languages.

Analyzing the code, the guys on the site have discovered a list of languages which will soon be supported by virtual keyboard and autocorrect:

  • Cantonese, traditional
  • Simplified Chinese
  • English (Australia)
  • English (Canada)
  • English (Japan)
  • English (Singapore)
  • English (UK)
  • French (Canada)
  • French (France)
  • German (Germany)
  • Japanese
  • Korean

The listing doesn’t necessarily mean that Apple will launch the headset in these regions right away, at least at the same time, but it’s still a strong indication that Apple is at least preparing to sell the Vision Pro in countries like Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan And South Korea.

Unfortunately it does not appear in this list the Italian, so it looks like we might not see the headset anytime soon. As for the timing, according to Ming-Chi Kuo Apple intends to expand the marketing of Vision Pro before WWDC 2024 in order to reach the greater number of developers possible before the launch of visionOS 2. So it should arrive before June.

VLC for Vision Pro would already be ready, but there is no rush to launch it

The other news concerns VLC. The president of VideoLAN Jean-Baptiste Kempf just gave an interview to Lowpass to celebrate five billion downloads and to the question of Janko Roettgers he replied that there is already one ready version of VLC running on Vision Pro.

Unfortunately it seems that the company has no plans to launch it any time soon, as, according to Kempf, the number of people who own a Vision Pro is too small. The manager added:

I’m not sure if there is a use case yet

Lowpass known as VideoLAN he had also said he had started working on an app for Meta Questbut then shelved the project as there were already many media players valid for the platform.

We remind you that VideoLAN is working on the launch of VLC 4.0a major update that saw the complete redesign of the app.
