Android Auto updates and messes with Assistant

Google Assistant can’t find peace on Android Auto. After the recent update which brought a breath of fresh air to Google’s well-known intelligent assistant, bad news is coming for those who use it on Android Auto.

In fact, it seems that among the recent Android Auto updates there was one that introduced a relevant bug for Google Assistant.

The bug in question would prevent Google Assistant from working on Android Auto. Specifically, Assistant would return the error message of the series “oops, something went wrong” every time a voice command on Android Auto.

Therefore, Google Assistant becomes de facto unusable on Android Auto and this impacts particularly on the entire user experience with Android Auto. Google’s infotainment system is obviously meant to be used while driving, which is what it is fundamental be able to use voice commands.

The reports that have emerged on the Google support forum are different and they don’t seem to limit the problem to a specific car or smartphone model.

The bug could be then transversal to Android Auto, and seems to be more frequent among those who have updated Android Auto at least to version 11.1.

At the moment Not one seems to have emerged temporary solution to the problem described, a sign that to see it solved it will be necessary wait for a fix directly from Google, probably via an update to Android Auto or the Google app, which actually manages the operation of Assistant.

Curious to see how the relevant bug just described arrives immediately after the welcome innovation introduced with the new Assistant design on Android Auto. We hope that the problem just described will be resolved soon.
