IT-alert takes stock of the first 8 months: here’s how people received it

In January and February 2024 saw a series of IT-alert tests on specific risks in numerous areas of Italy, the last one on 6 February. Therefore, the Civil protection processed all the data received from anonymous questionnaires and volunteers which could be filled in when the test message was received.

In this way, information was collected from June 2023 to February 2024, in which tests were carried out both on some regions and on more limited areas: they returned 2,692,417 questionnaires compiled, which show how the population perceived the alarm system, confirming what was already analyzed in October 2023.

We remind you that there is no IT-alert app and that the message will be received by all smartphones connected to a cell of the mobile telephone network.

In fact, the percentage of people who have received the message remained equal to 93%just as the percentage of people who they didn’t know it was an institutional messagethat is, the11%.

They arrive positive data by people, who claim to find the quite useful service (91%) and who had no problems interacting with the message (90%). Furthermore, the percentage of overshooting (who received the message outside the indicated territorial areas) is of 1.6%so this goes to show that the system error is quite low and tolerable.
