WhatsApp is the center of messaging for millions of users around the world and its Android apps is about to receive a feature that will prove to be very useful. Let’s talk about transcription of voice messages.

We have the feature that allows you to automatically transcribe voice messages on WhatsApp already spotted in the iOS version of WhatsApp, in testing for those who have joined the beta. Thanks to what I discovered from TheSpAndroid in the latest Android version of WhatsApp, the news should also arrive on phones with the green robot.

These references are explicitly linked to the functionality for transcribing voice messages on WhatsApp. These in fact provide information on the quantity of data to download to activate the feature, which would amount to 150 MB. Furthermore, such functionality would rely on transcription technology with end-to-end encryption integrated on the smartphone.

This means activating the voice message transcription feature it won’t impact on end-to-end encryption which is active by default in all WhatsApp chats.

So, the time seems ripe to see automatic voice transcription also on WhatsApp for Android. This is a feature that would definitely return very helpful to those who often communicate with voice messages, in situations where perhaps it is not contemplated be able to start the audio playback of a vowel.

At the moment we have no indications on When it will arrive the novelty we have just described. We expect the feature will arrive first in testing for those who have it beta. We will update you again as soon as it is possible to use it on Android too.
